Ann was born on October 12, 1922 in Medicine Hat. She was raised and educated in Grassy Lake and continued through her life to have fond memories of the town and its people. After her marriage to Alex on October 12, 1945, she moved to Warner, Alberta and then to Medicine Hat where she resided for the last sixty years. Ann's passions included weekend drives with Len to Grassy Lake, Alberta or Big Fork, Montana, watching the Calgary Flames, in particular "her Iginla", and enjoying the company of family, especially the great-grandchildren and old friends. Ann was a strong-willed, vibrant, intelligent and independent woman who had a quick wit and a sharp tongue.
Ann's legacy, in addition to her family, will continue in the trucking company McMillan Transport Ltd., which recently celebrated sixty years of operation, fifty of which Ann was an active and involved President. Her career culminated in receiving an award for over fifty years of dedicated service to the trucking industry from the American Trucking Historical Society in 2005 having established herself in a male dominated industry.
Funeral Service held in the Pattison Chapel on Friday, October 1, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jay Dyrland officiating. A private family Interment in the Hillside Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy donations may be made to the Foundation for Fighting Blindness, 12th floor, 890 Yonge Street Toronto, Ontario M4W 3P4 or to the Cerebral Palsy Association, No. 10, 8180 Macleod Trail South, Calgary, Alberta T2H 2B8.
