Mrs. Sallie Amanda Godwin Ethridge, 65, of the Big Dam Swamp community of Georgetown County, died October 18, 1958, in Georgetown County Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Ethridge was the widow of William Harrison Ethridge and a daughter of the late Nancy Taylor Godwin and William Jackson Godwin.

She was born in Florence County, February 20, 1883, but had lived most of her life in the Big Dam Swamp section.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Amanda Cole and Mrs. Effie Powell, both of Andrews; two sons, Woodrow Ethridge and Luther Ethridge, both of Andrews; four sisters, Mrs. Jannie Cox, Mrs. Vermel Ethridge, Mrs. Odell Powell, all of Andrews, and Mrs. J. B. Coleman of Marion; a brother, Willie Godwin of Mount Pleasant.

Funeral services were Monday, October 20, 1958, in Black River Free Will Baptist Church, of which she was a member. The Rev. Edison Kirby, pastor, officiated, assisted by the Rev. Robert Smart, pastor of Piney Forest Baptist Church, and the Rev. B. L. Hill of Florence.

Burial followed in Piney Forest Cemetery.
