Mr. Harrison was born in Islandton, November 12, 1937, a son of the late Heyward Breland Harrison Sr. and Lucille Harrison Carter.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and retired as a machinist from the Charleston Naval Shipyard Shop #38.
Mr. Harrison was an active member of Bedon Baptist Church where he was a Trustee, a former Deacon, and a former Sunday School Teacher. He was a member of the Bethlehem Masonic Lodge in Round O for over fifty years and was a well known Colleton County farmer. In later years he enjoyed sharing his vegetables with friends in the community. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his wife of 54 years he is survived by two sons, Carey Dowling "Buster" Harrison and wife Robin of Round O and Blaine Scott Harrison of Walterboro; daughter Marie S. Driggers and husband Philip of Round O; two sisters, Lucy H. Fahringer of Poquoson, VA and Margaret H. Dodgin and husband Ray of Lincolnton, NC; brother Robert H. Harrison and wife Margery of Breman, Alabama; six grandchildren: Phil Driggers, Brad Harrison, Amy Cook, Bryan Harrison, Emily Harrison, and J.C. Harrison; seven great- grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and daughter-in-law Barbara J. Harrison of Walterboro.
Mr. Harrison was preceded in death by a son, Heyward Breland "Butch" Harrison Jr., a sister Betty J. Schlosser and a grandson Jason Driggers.
Funeral services will be held July 26, 2011 at 11:00 in Bedon Baptist Church with burial following in the Church Cemetery.
