Lucy Harrison Fahringer, age 78, passed away February 5, 2018 after a brief illness. She was a native of Walterboro, South Carolina and a resident of Poquoson since 1976. Lucy worked at Poquoson Parks and Recreation from 1988 to 2000. Most of her life she was a "stay at home" mother and grandmother. She loved her family and greatly enjoyed visiting with friends over a cup of coffee, traveling, and reading.
Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, Heyward Harrison and Lucille Harrison Carter; her husband of 38 years, Frederick L. Fahringer; her infant daughter, Laura Ruth; and her siblings, Buddy and Bob Harrison and Betty Schlosser. She is survived by her children, Rhonda Chapman (Bob), Karen Moore (Rick) and Lee Fahringer (Debbie); her grandchildren, Megan Foard (Haywood), Mindy Daniels (Tyler), Melody Holland (Marshall), David Scott, and Jonathan and Caroline Fahringer; her great-grandchildren, Eleanor, Esther, Miriam and Freddie; her sister, Margaret Dodgin; sister-in-law, Mae Harrison; and special relatives, Rusty Meissner and Kim Schlosser Goodson as well as many beloved nephews and nieces.
The family will receive friends Thursday, February 8, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Avenue, Hampton, Virginia 23666. A celebration of Lucy's life will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, February 9, at Emmaus Baptist Church, 814 Yorktown Road, Poquoson, Virginia 23662 where Lucy was a member for more than 40 years.
