Mary Electa was the third of ten children born to James Henry Allen and Lucia Elila Robbins. She was born in Titusville, Pennsylvania. She married Myron Kimmy in 1883 and they moved to Campbell County, South Dakota in 1885 where they filed claims and farmed. Their farm was in Fairview Township where many of Mary's family also filed claims. She was a fine Christian person. She endured a lot of hardships, and was much loved by all who knew her. She was an excellent cook and homemaker. Three children were born to this couple: George Samuel in 1888, Alice Lucia in 1890, and Evalyn Ella in 1898. In 1888 Myron and Mary were in Lake County Ohio where their first child, George was born. Myron had a brother who lived in Madison Ohio. They were also back there in 1900 when Census were taken, then they would have gone back to South Dakota. In 1901 they, along with her mother and brothers, Rolland and Frank Allen, moved to Alberta where they began wheat farming. In about 1910 they discontinued farming, and moved to McCleary, Washington where Myron worked for the McCleary Sash and Door Factory. He worked there until failing health required him to sell the house to Rolland Allen, his brother-in-law and moved to Portland to be near his daughter Eva. Vern Adams built a small house for Myron and Mary on the back of his lot there. Myron died in 1923, in Portland of valvular heart disease. Mary then moved back to Alberta and lived with her son George until her death three years later.
