George was the first of three children born to Myron Samuel Kimmy and Mary Electa Allen. He was born in Madison, Lake County, Ohio. Shortly after birth his parents returned to their homestead in Campbell County, SD where they farmed. He was about 14 years old when his parents moved from South Dakota to Alberta, along with two bothers of Mary and their mother. George farmed in the Chesterwold after his first marriage. In about 1926 he moved to Battle Lake where he had a large home. He was an extremely hard worker. He worked for a time as a logger, and made several river drives. He farmed and worked in lumber mills and owned his own mill. He also worked as a boiler operator on oil rigs. He married Amy Fay Ayers in 1910. Eight children were born to this couple. This marriage ended in divorce in about 1939. George married Alice Amanda Young in 1945. The couple had three children. Alice was strong and energetic. She helped with the saw mill in addition to her work as homemaker. The oldest daughter of this marriage remembers him as being a very loving and kind person. George is described as a very generous man. He was a fine auctioneer. He sponsored a lot of dances in his barn at Battle Lake. He used to "call" the square dances.
He died of congestive heart failure at age 64.
