Prominent Citizen Dies Suddenly.

In the death of Mr. John G. Buffington at his home near Lebanon campground in Tadmore district Monday, April 22, a well-known and highly esteemed citizen has gone to his reward. He was seventy-nine years of age and his life had been well-spent. For four years he served gallantly as a Confederate soldier and never suffered a scratch throughout this terrible struggle. He was a loyal member of Lebanon church and reared a large family in the fear and admonition of the Lord. His wife and life-long helpmeet survives him, together with the following children, viz: Messrs. W. M., E. O. and Emory Buffington of this county, Thos. Buffington of Texas, Mrs. Johnny Buffington, Mrs. Frank Whelechel, Mrs. M. L. Gilmer, of this county, and Mrs. Imogene O'Neal of Texas.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Z. V. Haws at Lebanon church on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, a large concourse of friends assembling to pay a last tribute of respect to his memory.
