Marie graduated from San Francisco State University in 1940 with a bachelor's degree in Education and Music and a master's degree in Education Administration.

Marie was an elementary school teacher at San Francisco State University Demonstration School Frederick Burke and the San Leandro School District. Thereafter, she was an associate professor of Education at San Francisco State University and the Intermediate Supervisor for the San Leandro School District from which she retired. In 1996, Marie and Conrad moved to Reno, Nevada.

Marie was a long-time member of Sharon Heights Golf and Country Club, Menlo Park, California, The Olympic Club, San Francisco, California, St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church, San Mateo, California and St. Stephen's Catholic Church, San Francisco, California. She was a life-long supporter of the arts and music, especially opera and symphony. She loved working with children and spending time with her family.

She was predeceased by her sister Louise Erikson and her husband, Conrad William Mollath to whom she was married for 62 years.
