A retired miner, he was born Feb. 22, 1883 in Parkersburg, W.Va. He lived in the Painesville area for 10 years. Mr. Caplinger was a member of the Methodist Church, Lost Creek, W.Va.
Survivors include his widow, Minnie; sons, Carl, Painesville, and Earl, Mentor; daughters, Mrs. Mike (Pearl) Melnyk and Mrs. Dan (Helen) McCoy, both of Painesville; a sister, Mrs. Charley Whitehair, Clarksburg, W.Va.; 19 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren. One son, three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. .Friday at the Spear Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Ave., Painesville. The Rev. Francis Norris, assistant pastor at the Painesville United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
Friends wll be received at the funerl home from 7 to 9 tonight and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
