Reed Oliver Hansen was born on Jan. 23, 1931 in Teton Basin, the youngest of nine children born to Hans Norman and Sarah Selina Porter Hansen. He died July 20, 2011 at the age of 80 at his home in St. Anthony. He married Marlene A Marshall November 14, 1959. She died May 19, 1987. Reed grew up on his family farm near Tetonia. At the age of 14, after his father had died, he moved to Rexburg with his mother where he attended and graduated from Madison High School. After graduation he worked in Pocatello for a short time before joining the Navy. He served in the Navy for four years during the Korean War. After being discharged, Reed went to barber school. He worked many years as a barber in Rexburg until he and his wife moved to the St. Anthony area in 1977. After that he worked in the logging industry until retirement. Reed was preceded in death by his wife, all of his brothers and sisters, and his granddaughter Jenni. He is survived by his children, Gerry (Tracy) Morris of Boise, ID; Richard Jensen of Challis, ID; and JoLyn (Wynn) Briggs of Teton, ID; He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 23, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Bert Flamm Mortuary (581 E. 1st N., St. Anthony). Interment will be in the Sutton Cemetery in Archer with military rites provided by the Madison County veterans and Idaho Honor Guard.
