He was born in Indiana, moving to Williamstown when he was 18 years of age where he had been in business the remainder of his life. He started his career as a blacksmith, later becoming a shoe cobbler, which business he followed until death.
He is survived by his wife, Ada Ransom Barnes, and his father, William Barnes.
Funeral services were conducted at the residence, Monday, March 23, with burial in Williamstown Cemetery. O. P. Elliston had charge of the funeral arrangements.
