Mr. and Mrs. John J. Weaver, Sr. celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last Saturday at their home, 1623 Seventh avenue.

Mr. and Mrs. Weaver were marred on May 4, 1890 in Charleston and have lived here since that time. They are the parents of eight children, six of whom are living. They are Joseph E., John J. Jr., and William K. Weaver, Mrs. E.P. Schehl [sic], Mrs. L.J. Roberts and Mrs. E.L. Lemon, all living in Charleston. They have 19 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Mr. Weaver, who is employed as a fireman at the Daniel Boone hotel, and his brother-in-laws, John C. Jacobs and Samuel Hudnall were the first engineers to operate a generator to run street cars in Charleston. The power plant was then located on Alderson street.

Mr. Weaver was born at Murrysville * on June 7, 1869 the son of the late James and Elizabeth Stover Weaver and Mrs. Weaver was Miss Virginia Alice Hudnall before her marriage, the daughter of the late Joseph and Cynthia Hudnall.

*NOTE: Per birth record of John Weaver, he was born in Mason County, WV. Murrysville is in Jackson County, WV. John's parents are George W. Weaver and Susan Elizabeth Stover.

John J. Weaver, 84, of 1623-B Seventh Avenue, died this morning at his home following an extended illness.

He was a retired Civil Engineer. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Stella (Littlepage) Weaver, two sons, Joseph E., of South Charleston, and John J. Jr., of Charleston, three daughters, Mrs. E.P. Stehl, and Mrs. L.J. Roberts of Charleston, and Mrs. William Myers of Akron, Ohio, a sister, Mrs. Jennie Hudnall of Van Nuys, Calif., two brothers, Franklin of Springfield, Ohio, and Samuel of Elmwood, West Virginia, 19 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren.

The body is at the Bartlett Funeral Home, and will be taken to the daughter, Mrs. Roberts of 1524 1/2 Seventh Avenue today at 5 p.m. Funeral plans are incomplete.
