Mr. and Mrs. John J. Weaver, Sr. celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last Saturday at their home, 1623 Seventh avenue.

Mr. and Mrs. Weaver were marred on May 4, 1890 in Charleston and have lived here since that time. They are the parents of eight children, six of whom are living. They are Joseph E., John J. Jr., and William K. Weaver, Mrs. E.P. Schehl [sic], Mrs. L.J. Roberts and Mrs. E.L. Lemon, all living in Charleston. They have 19 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Mr. Weaver, who is employed as a fireman at the Daniel Boone hotel, and his brother-in-laws, John C. Jacobs and Samuel Hudnall were the first engineers to operate a generator to run street cars in Charleston. The power plant was then located on Alderson street.

Mr. Weaver was born at Murrysville * on June 7, 1869 the son of the late James and Elzabeth Stover Weaver and Mrs. Weaver was Miss Virginia Alice Hudnall before her marriage, the daughter of the late Joseph and Cynthia Hudnall.

Mrs. Virginia Alice Weaver, 72, wife of John J. Weaver, 1623B Seventh Avenue, died yesterday morning at her home.

Also surviving are three sons, William K., Joseph and John Jr., three daughters, Mrs. E.P. Shehl, Mrs. Lewis Roberts, and Mrs. E.L. Lemon all of Charleston. The body will be removed today to the home of Mrs. Lemon, 825 Washington Street West.

Service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Bartlett Funeral Chapel, with Rev. R.C. Cannon and Rev. C.L. West officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
