Nancy Ann Alloway was born on January 16, 1806 in Wilkes County, North Carolina to John Walker Strange and Elizabeth (Waters) Alloway.
At the age of 21 on September 7, 1827, Nancy married David Blue (1800-1828) in Miami County, Ohio. David was the son of James and Mehetable (Garrard) Blue. They had one son, David Alloway Blue (1828-1904).
In 1928, after the death of her husband, Nancy and her son David headed west to Putnam County, Indiana, where she remarried to Joel Cooper (1788-1866). They had five children: Pheriby, Irene, Joel S., John L., and Christopher.
Nancy resided near the town of Mount Meridian the rest of her life. After Joel's death, she lived in the William T. Elmore household and owned 25 acres of land west of town.
