Willliam Edmund WEBB was the first of twelve children born to Clayton Stribling WEBB and his wife, Susan Elvira MCELROY. He is believed to have been named for his father's two older, half-brothers (same father, different mother), Edmund WEBB (1787-1864) and William WEBB (1790-1852).

William Edmund WEBB and Esther Craig LAWRENCE were married in Pickens District (became Pickens County in 1868), South Carolina on 24 Oct 1849. They relocated to Texas after the birth of their first known child, Laura Ellen WEBB in 1850 but prior to the birth of their second known child, Martha Esther WEBB in 1853.

Esther's parents were Elisha LAWRENCE (1789-1876) and Martha "Patsy" or "Patty" CRAIG (1792-1876).

William served in the Confederate Army in Burnett's Regiment, Company E, 13th Texas Mounted Volunteers.

William's and Esther's six known children and their approximate birth years are shown below.

1850 Laura Ellen WEBB
1853 Martha Esther WEBB
1855 Florence Margaret WEBB
1858 Robert Lawrence WEBB
1860 Rosa WEBB
1863 William Edwin WEBB

Robert Lawrence WEBB apparently died young. He was shown as Robert L. WEBB, 3 years old, in the 1860 census and as Lawrence WEBB, 12 years old in the 1870 census. But, no trace has been found of him after the 1870 census. His sister, Rose/Rosa named her only child Lawrence Webb MCBRIDE, most likely after her older brother, Robert Lawrence WEBB. Lawrence Webb MCBRIDE was born in 1880 and he died in 1950.
