Mildred Angeline Israel Wells of Conway, formerly of Kelso, AR, departed this life on February 3rd, 2010. Mildred was born July 9th, 1923 at Kelso, AR and was the sixth child of Jack & Johnnie Brumfield Israel.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Otho F. Wells of Tillar, AR; parents; Jack and Johnnie V.
Israel of Kelso, AR, sisters: Hazel Hennington of CA., Pauline Van Schoyck of OR, Mary and Georgia Israel of Kelso, AR, brothers: Sanders Israel of Hobbs, NM and Carlie Israel of Pascagoula.
She was a member of Harlan Park Baptist church in Conway, AR and a member of the Prairie Chapter of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution in Lee's Summit, MO.
She served in the defense of our country during World War II, when she worked in the shipyards in California as a welder. She was an avid reader, accomplished seamstress, expert gardener and a church pianist. She poured her heart , soul and spirit into the art of quilt making and her children and a few other blessed people were fortunate enough to receive one especially made for them. She was a devoted and loving wife , mother, grandmother ( meemaw ) , sister and friend.
She is survived by four sons: J.P.( Thelma ) Dunn, of Atoka, TN, Charles A Dunn of Conway, AR, Conrad Dunn, of Las Vegas, NV, Jack (Kay) Dunn of Rogers, AR, two daughters: Diane Ramchandani of Conway, AR, Denise Moncrief of Conway, AR , one brother: Jabbo (Jean ) Israel of Dumas, AR , one sister: Emma (Ormand) Sanders of Kelso, AR, eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Saturday, February 6,2010 at Kelso Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Hilburn officiating . Burial will be in Kelso Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Funeral Service of McGehee.
Memorials may be made to Kelso Cemetery Association.
