Funeral service for Marie R. Gerler Wachter of Perryville, formerly of Frohna, was held at 10 a.m.,
March 5, 2005, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altenburg, at 10 a.m., March 5, 2005. The Rev.
Charles Weber officiated, and burial was in the church cemetery. Young and Sons East Perry Funeral Chapel in Altenburg, was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Wachter, 91, died March 3, 2005, at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Perryville. She was born Jan. 29, 1914, in Shawneetown, a daughter of Herman and Rosie Landgraf Bodenschatz. On Sept. 3, 1939, she was married to Erhard Christian Gerler, who died Aug. 10, 1969. She
then was married to Fred Wachter on April 4, 1976. He preceded her in death in September of 1978.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Wachter was employed by the Intersection Restaurant and Motel for 22 years.
Surviving are three sons, Clinton Gerler of Frohna, Edgar Gerler of Gordonville, and Vernold Gerler; two daughters, Delores M. Roth of St. Mary, and Nancy Niswonger of Jackson; a stepson, Edgar Wachter of McClure, IL; two stepdaughters, Eileen Miller and Evelyn Illers of
Jackson; 12 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and seven step-grand children. She was preceded in death by six brothers and four sisters.
Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altenburg.
