DILLON HERALD
Dillon, Dillon Co., SC
Thursday, 13 March 1913

Sunday [March 9] at noon Mr. D.J. Alford passed away at his home in Carolina section after a short illness with typhoid fever. The passing of Mr. Alford removes one of the best citizens of the county. He was the type of man who made friends easily and always had the confidence of those who knew him best. He was a successful farmer, a staunch supporter of the schools and churches, a model citizen, and a kind and indulgent father.

He was about 60 years of age and his surviving children are Mrs. L. McInnis, Misses Emily, Knox, Grady, Jessie and Lizie Alford, of Carolina; Mrs. Gus Alford, of Rowland, his wife having preceded him to the grave about a year ago. He was laid away at Carolina church Monday morning.
