Max Leon Mabe, 64, of Highlandville, died at 4:57 p.m. Monday at the Ozark Nursing and Care Center. Services for Mr. Mabe were held today (Thursday) at 11 a.m, at the First Baptist Church of Highlandville, with the Rev. Gary Stewart officiating. Burial was in Highlandville Cemetery, under the direction of Harris Funeral Home, Ozark.
A native of Highlandville, Mr. Mabe had resided in Wichita, Kansas, for several years prior his return to Highlandville in 1972. He had been employed by the Baldknobbers Hillbilly Jamboree Show at Branson since 1973; he was in charge of transportation. He was a veteran of World War II, where he served the U.S. Army. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Highlandville.
Mr. Mabe's survivors include his wife, Barbara, Highlandville; three sons, Danny, Nixa, Ronney, Foyil, Oklahoma, and Chris, of the home; two daughters, Pam Saffeels, Nixa, and Dana Eakins, Nixa; 10 grandchildren; his mother, Hazel Mabe, Nixa; five brothers, Bob, Branson, Bill, Nixa, Cletus, Wichita, Lyle, Ozark, and Jim, Nixa; and four sisters, Mrs. Margie Blansit, Nixa, Mrs. Joan Bilyeu, Ozark, Mrs. Sharon Michel, Nixa, and Mrs. Nancy Carter, Nixa.
