Anna Kristine (Nelson) Peterson was born August 14, 1869 at Brevik, Sogn, Norway. Her parents name are unknown. She died November 2, 1971 at the Philip Nursing Home where she had made her home for the past three years.
Anna was baptized in the Lutheran faith in Larch Parish, Sogn. She came to the United States in 1893, living for two years at Thor, IA.
She married Lewis (Lars) Peterson on Dec 5, 1895 at Rushmore, MN. They homesteaded in Haakon County, north of Nowlin SD in 1908. Anna lived there continuously until moving to Philip, 28 years ago.
She is survived by two sons: Raymond of Midland, and Arthur of Philip; a brother Iver Nelson of Kadoka; a granddaughter and three great-granddaughters.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Dec 28, 1921; a son Nikolai,in infancy; her parents; a granddaughter, June; two brothers and a sister in Norway.
Pallbearers were Severt Dale, Merle Jarman, Nestor Nelson, Carl Hovland, Jerry Johnson, and Ervin Sheeley.
Music was furnished by Organist, Robert Sheeley and the Church Choir.
