Before June 5, 1917, Lena m. John F. "Jack" Reed, s. of John T. and Mary Reed, b. Sept. 13, 1890 at Lewisville, Arkansas. He d. Mar. 14, 1967 also at St. Louis, MO. (g.s.)
Lena and Jack appear in the 1930 and 1940 federal census of St. Louis where "Jack" was a cafe chef. In their household in both the latter two censuses is Lena's widowed mother, Nancy Phelps (Stone) Cullifer.
This Reed family cannot be located in the 1920 census; however, in the early 1920's they along with Lena's parents operated a "tent" restaurant in the lead and zinc mine region of Galena, KS, Joplin, MO and northeast Oklahoma.
The memorialist was recently contacted by a researcher who found an old-style photo in an antique mall at Missouri. The photo is identified in pencil on its rear side as that of John F. and Lena Reed, and will soon be added to this memorial. It includes two infant children named Reuben and Maggie. Unfortunately, no children are included in either the 1930 or 1940 census of the family. Thus, it is assumed the two children died young.
