US Congressman. Elected to represent Alabama's 3rd District in the United States House of Representatives, serving 1897 to 1914. Also served as a Member of the Alabama State House of Representatives from 1890 to 1891, United States District Attorney for the Middle District of Alabama from 1893 to 1896, Delegate to the Democratic National Convention from Alabama in 1912, Judge of the United States District Court for the Middle District of Alabama in 1914. He was the author of the Clayton Antitrust Act.
