Mrs. Harriet M. Haas, who died at the family residence in this city on Tuesday night, February 14, 1893, was born in Ohio in 1827. She came to Boise in 1864 with five children. In the following year she was married to M.S. Short, from which union there sprung two children, Harvey Short and Mrs. Emma Henderson. In 1892 she was married to A. Haas. During the period between 1873 and 1879 she
and her family resided in Silver City, Idaho, after which date she removed to Boise, where she resided until her death. One of her sons, Edgar Harr, was killed at the early age of 19 in a mining accident in Silver City in 1873. In 1891 one daughter, Mrs. C. J. Conant, died in Kelton, Utah. She had been ailing for two years, but her last illness was of seven consecutive months' duration. She left, besides her husband, four married daughters, Mrs. Anna Keck, Mrs. Florence Spencer, Mrs. Laura Minear and Mrs. Emma Henderson, and two sons, Charles H. Harr and Harvey Short. Mr. Short, Mrs. Henderson and Mabel Minear, her grand-daughter, were the only children who could be present at her death and burial.
