Evelyn Chlorene Collier Biggs of Paris passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2008, peacefully at her home, at which time Bright-Holland Funeral Home received her into their care.

A celebration of her life is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 8, at Bright-Holland Chapel with the Rev. Dean A. Olson officiating.

Interment follows in Meadowbrook Gardens Cemetery.

Friends may stop by the funeral home, 2601 Lamar Ave., between 6-8:00 p.m. Friday, to visit and reminisce with her family.

She was born January 20, 1914, in Cooper, to E.H. Doolin and Mary O. Johnson.

Her family moved to Paris a few years later.

She graduated from Paris High School and from Paris Business College.

She later was an instructor in the English Literacy Program at Paris Junior College.

She managed the Montgomery Ward Store in Paris for a number of years.

She was a licensed real estate broker and a licensed insurance agent.

She also served as manager and director of the local chapter of the American Red Cross.

She was a lifetime member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Paris and participated in the work of the Women's Society.

She was an active member of the Altrusa Club and the Business and Professional Women's Club, both of Paris.

She was a loving and supportive wife and mother, who taught her children the importance of character, integrity, and pride.

She loved her family and friends deeply and will be remembered for her courage, dignity, and beauty.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, John Harvey Collier, and by her son, Gerald Scott Collier; sisters, Josey Parrott, Jessie Whitaker, Alma Nix, and Eddie Aubrey.

Survivors include her husband, Robert N. Biggs, of Blossom; her sons, Jimmy Lloyd Collier of Paris, John Richard (Pauline) Collier of Forney; daughters, Janice J. (Dean) Olson of Georgetown, Martha Nell (Bob) Ferebee of Houston and Betsy Irene Collier Huie (Dale) Haynes of Greenville; three step-children, Janie Carwell of Port Charlotte, FL, Sherell Spears of Gasper, IND, and Robert N. 'Bob' Biggs Jr. of Funta Gorda, FL; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Casket bearers will be Mark Huie, Lex Huie, Brad Moore, Scott Moore, C.D. Sexton, and Scotty Brockman.
