US Congressman. Served as a Major in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. Elected to represent Mississippi's 7th District in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1897 to 1901. Also served as a Member of the Mississippi State House of Representatives from 1878 to 1890, Delegate to the Mississippi State Constitutional Convention in 1890, and Member of the Mississippi State Senate from 1904 to 1908.
