LEWISBURG - Joe Thompson, 95, passed away Friday, April 13, 2001, at Greenbrier Manor following an extended illness. Born July 18, 1905, in Dawson, he was the son of the late Charles Edward and Alzada Nutter Thompson. Mr. Thompson was a member of Lewisburg United Methodist Church, Greenbrier Lodge AF and AM, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite 1, Clinton, Iowa, and was a retired construction supervisor with DuPont Co. He was preceded in death by four sisters and four brothers. Survivors include his wife, Isola B. Thompson; two daughters, Betty Lucas of Springfield, Ohio, and Mary Ann Garnett and her husband, William, of Richmond, Va.; a stepdaughter, Frances Zicafoose of Lewisburg; a granddaughter, Jennifer Carr and her husband, Chris, of Lewisville, Texas; three sisters, Jane Thompson of Wilmington, Del., Mary Bailey of Morganza, Md., and Christine Glidwell of Mathallie, Va.; three stepgrandchildren and three step great-grandchildren. Service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home, Lewisburg, with the Revs. Patricia Jarvis and Julian Sulgit officiating. Entombment will follow in Wallace Memorial Mausoleum, Clintonville.
