Mr. Marvin Vernon Hightower, 89, of the Grapevine Community in San Augustine County, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2011, in San Augustine.
A native of San Augustine County, Texas, he was born to Vera Myrtle (Wagstaff) Hightower and James Andrew Hightower on March 18, 1922. He was employed as a Carpenter working in the Construction Industry for many years. He was a member of the Grapevine Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon.
Graveside Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 7, 2011, in the Dickerson Cemetery in San Augustine County, with Bro. Jerry Neal Hightower, Jr. and Bro. Robert Byley officiating.
His survivors include: Daughter: Ann Lowe, and her husband, Charles of Broaddus; Sons: Dug Hightower, and his wife, Martha of San Augustine; Wayne Hightower, and his wife, Brenda of San Augustine; Vernon Ray Hightower of San Augustine; and Jerry Hightower and his wife, Debbie of Delight, Arkansas; Sisters: Frankie Nell Davis of Clyde, Texas; and Katy Lou Wiley of Nederland; and Lola Bell Runnels of Nacogdoches; Daughter-in-law: Rhonda Kay Hightower of San Augustine; Brother-in-law: James Evans of San Augustine; and Sister-in-law: Shirley Hightower of San Augustine; 20 grandchildren, and 32 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife: Lousie Hightower; Sons, Wyman Doyle Hightower and Marvin Hightower; Grandchildren: Herbert Wayne Hightower; Charles "Peanut" Lowe; Shawna Pierce; Sherri Terry; and Jessica Hightower; Brother: Jackie Doyle Hightower, and Sister: Norean Evans.
