Ella Mae Pippin Powers, 86, of Adel, died Sunday, July 10, 2011 at South Georgia Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Shelv Summerlin and the Rev. Chris Newbern officiating. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to services. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery Annex. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. Powers was born June 9, 1925 to the late William Bailey and Alice Whittington Powers. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Ira Powers, who died July 25, 1998; one son, Roger Paul "Tiny" Powers; one daughter, Shirley Buice; one brother, O.T. Pippin; two sisters, Maude Smith and Elizabeth Spicer; and numerous half brothers and sisters. Mrs. Powers was a faithful and dedicated member of First Assembly of God Church in Adel, where they held Ira and Ella Mae Powers Day and were pioneers of the church. She was a wonderful mother, the most incredibly selfless grandmother in the world, and was loved very much by her family.

Survivors include her son, Ira Junior Powers of St. John's, Fla.; one daughter, Janice Powers of Adel; eight grandchildren, Sabrina Michelle Powers, Monica Powers Newman, Amy Powers Mitchell, Ira Powers III, April Powers Crabill, Mary Elizabeth Powers, Lesilie Rebekah Powers, and Laura and Elieen Powers; five great-grandchildren, Ashley Newman, Zion Mitchell, Samuel Crabill, Kamryn Powers and Eilidh Jane Crabill; and one daughter-in-law, Rosemary Powers of Adel.
