Large throngs gathered at the Chisago Lake Church in Center City yesterday afternoon to pay their final respects to Dr. Frank Bloom, well loved Lindstrom business man and resident who passed away Sunday afternoon at Bethesda Hospital. He was 61 years of age.

Death came quietly at 3 pm following a week's confinement to bed after an operation performed Friday, June 3 for an obstruction of the bowel. He became better for a time after the operation and his condition failed Wednesday when a chill set in giving him an attack of pneumonia which brought about his death. Sunday Dr. Bloom has been ailing with Hodgkin's disease for the last two and a half years. He first became ill during the fall of 1929 and gave u his dental practice here, and in the winter of 1930-1931, h and his family motored to California where he sought a change of climate to restore his health.

Services were conducted from the home here yesterday afternoon at 1:30 pm and from the Chisago Lake Church at Center City at 2 pm. Dr. A. N. Nelson pastor and two nephews the Rev. Aner Bloom and Wenzel Bloom officiated. Burial was made in the Chisago Lake Cemetery and pallbearers were 6 nephews: Ellis Bloom, Gilbert Bloom, Elmer Bloom, Oliver Bloom, Elmer Bloom, Oliver Bloom, Wendell Bloom and Paul Bloom. Lindstrom business places were closed from 1:15 pm to 3:00 pm yesterday as an act of tribute to him.

Frank Bloom was born at Center City on the old homestead May 11, 1871 and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gustaf Bloom. He attended the public schools in that community and was confirmed at the Chisago Lake Church in 1888. He later went to Chicago, where he graduated from high school and later attended Northwestern University at Evanston, IL, where he received his degree from the school of dentistry in 1900. After his graduation he came to Lindstrom and conducted his practice here until only two years ago when he took ill.

He was married on June 12, 1911 to Miss Ruth Porter of Center City and to this union has been blessed with two children, Vincent Bloom and Lavinia Bloom.

Besides his wife and family he leaves to mourn his loss five brothers and two sisters. The sisters are Mrs. Christian Rose and Mrs. Emma Strand of Marine on St. Croix an the brothers are Alfred Bloom and August Bloom of Chisago City, Ed Bloom of Lindstrom, David Bloom of Center City and Joseph Bloom of Warroad, MN. He also leaves a host of friends and other relatives.

Mr. Bloom has been a member of the Center City Choir since he was 13 years of age an had also been a member of the Chisago Lake Male Chorus. He had a life membership in the Minnesota State Dental Society which is accorded only upon merit of twenty five year of practice. Other dental societies also listed him as a member of excellent standing.

Dr. Bloom, who had many friends in this section of the state was a man of high respect and genuine Christian character. His honesty and faithful service in his profession and the respect that he commanded from all who knew him stand as a monument to his memory.
