Sherman L. Bane, 75, of Muncie, joined his loved ones in Heaven on Saturday, July 9, 2011, while at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

Sherman was born August 16, 1935 in Rushville, IN, to the late Jesse Bane and Katherine (Copple) Alford.

Sherman worked for years in road construction. He was a member of the Gaston United Methodist Church. He loved fishing and gardening in his spare time. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to anyone. Sherman was a man who would give anything of himself to help others.

Sherman was preceded in death by three brothers, Kenneth, Howard, and Fred Bane; two brothers-in-law, Charles Ralstin and Cliffton "Tip" Sadler; two sisters, Nancy Glover and Rosemary Paugh; and his best friend and canine companion, Taco.

A funeral service to celebrate Sherman's life will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 W. Kilgore Ave., with Pastor John Long officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Memorial Park. Family and friends may gather to share and remember two hours prior to services from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Elm Ridge Funeral Home.
