Mrs. Elizabeth Hefner died at Spokane, Wash. Will be Buried Here
Mrs. L. S. VanDolah received a telegram informing her that her aunt, Mrs. Elizabeth Hefner, died. The body will be brought here for burial, but it is not known just when it will arrive.
She was the daughter of Patrick Hopkins, and was born in Indiana, Feb. 22, 1827 and came here with her parents in an early day. Her father was one of the first settlers of Lexington and was for many years one of the leading and influential men of this section. Her husband was Henry Hefner who died in New Orleans, La, a number of years ago and we as the sister of Mrs. William M. Smith.
Mrs. Hefner was a devoted Christian woman and from early girlhood a faithful member of the Methodist church. She is spoken of by all who knew her as a noble and exemplary woman.
She was the mother of 3 children, all of whom went before her into the land beyond the river. Years ago she adopted Bert Dishon and he has ever been to her a loyal and loving son.
She left here about 30 years ago and for 20 years of that time her home was with Mr. Dishon in Spokane.
