Homer Penix, Jr., 66, of Wabash, Indiana, died at 12:35 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2011 at his home. He was born July 24, 1944 in Boonescamp, Kentucky to Homer Penix Sr. and Beulah (Waller) Penix Dutton. Homer worked at Wabash Alloys 39 years, retiring in 2002. He attended the Akron House of Prayer. He enjoyed flea markets and auction sales. He is survived by 12 children, Homer H. (Tracy) Penix, Mike (Angie) Penix, Lucille (Ronald) Rutz, Vicki (Allen) Case, Phyllis (Stoney) Hobson, Linda Penix, Faye Penix, Barb Miller, Alice Spencer, and Amanda Spencer, all of Wabash, Amber (Shawn) Mielke of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Teresa (Bill) Morris of North Manchester, Indiana; 34 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild; 2 brothers, John (Dawn) Dutton of Wabash, and Jim Jack Dutton of Somerset, Indiana; 4 sisters, Hattie Dutton of LaFontaine, Indiana, Penny Penix, Sue (Danny) Sloane, and Modell (Ray) Nance, all of Wabash. He was preceded in death by 2 sons, Donald Penix and Wally Bowers, 2 sisters, Jean Brooks and Nell Faye Berry, and 1 grandson. Funeral services will be held at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Danny Honeycutt officiating. Burial will be in Falls Cemetery, Wabash.
