Sarah Pearson Lowry was born in Miami county, Ohio, March 1, 1823; died March 29, 1891, aged 68 years, 29 days. She came with her parents to Allen county, Ind., in 1835; was married to James Lowry Aug. 15, 1836. To them were born thirteen children, ten of whom are living and married; three sons preceded her. In 1841, she with her husband was converted and became charter members of the Eel River Baptist church. She has been a member of said church ever since, a faithful Christian, a devoted wife, a kind and loving mother, a true and noble friend, always remembering the poor, and respected and loved by all who knew her. In 1856 she moved to Walnut township. She was a patient sufferer for eight weeks before her death, always showing the same kind and christian spirit that characterized her whole life. She realized that she must soon pass away, and told her children to not weep but rejoice when mother was at rest

We realize most the sadness of death
When it enters our home, so bold,
And takes one we love and cherish the best,
One who in great reverence we hold.

That one was mother, so gentle and good.
In sickness so patient, in trouble so brave,
In life so generous, so tender and kind.
That to all comfort and cheer she gave.

Altho' home will be so lonely now
Without her presence and welcome smile,
Yet the memory of her life will last
And help us our grief to reconcile.

May we who survive cling close to that life
Which she took as her counsel and guide;
May we cling to the cross, with hope and trust
That we too in that home may forever abide.

May this home, now bereaved and lonely,
Be united with not one amiss,
May we meet her who beckons us onward
To that life of eternal bliss.

Funeral services were conducted at the house by Rev. C.V. Strickland at 12:30 p.m. March 30th, and at the M.E. Church at 1 p.m. by Rev. B.F. Cavins, D.D., of Peru, assited by Rev. Allerton and Rev. Beall. Interment at Jordan Cemetery.
