Mrs. Roger Davis Services Held at Arbela

Betty Louise, daughter of James Arthur and Sarah E. Found, was born near Gorin, Missouri, September 30, 1920. She attended grade school at Arbela and graduated from Granger High School where she was valedictorian of her high school class of 1939.

On July 13, 1939, she was married to Roger Davis of Granger. To this union were born a son, James Roger, and a daughter, Loretta Louise. With her husband, she operated the general store in Arbela for several years. In 1952, they sold the store and Roger entered the ministry of the Methodist Church. Betty was an active worker in the church, having joined the Arbela Methodist Church at the age of nine. As a minister's wife, she worked faithfully in all phases of the church program, but had a special interest in the youth, serving as District Youth Director, Director of the Intermediate Camps, Dean of Women for the Senior MYF Convocation, and this past summer, serving as a Workgroup Leader for the Jurisdictional Methodist Youth Fellowship Workshop in Fayetteville, Arkansas. She was on her way to a youth meeting at Mexico, Missouri, Monday afternoon, November 15, when she was seriously injured in an automobile accident. She passed away that night in the Lee Hospital at Fayette. At the time of her death, she was a member of the Midway Methodist Church, near Rocheport, Missouri.

She was a wonderful wife and mother, a kind and loving daughter, sister, and aunt.

Betty is survived by her husband, pastor of the Rocheport Charge; her son, a senior at Central College, Fayette and a student minister; her daughter, a senior at Fayette High School; her parents of Arbela; five sisters, Mrs. Murel Adams, Wyaconda; Mrs. T. A. Powell, Temple City, California; Mrs. Harley Nelson, Montclair, California; Mrs. J. C. Gilbert, Maysville, Missouri; and Mrs. Homer Guy, LaPlata, Missouri; one brother, Harry Pointer, Loveland, Colorado; five brothers-in-law, one sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by two brothers.

Funeral services were held in the Arbela Methodist Church on Thursday afternoon, November 17 at 2:00 by Rev. Walter Hillis of Granger and Rev. J. Frederick Lawson, of Memphis. Body bearers were Paul Racey, Leland Harvey, Karl Jr. Kraus, Calvin Kraus, Delmar Kice and Burdett Kice. Mrs. Girden Davis and Mrs. Harold Hustead, sng "Be Still My Heart". Mrs. Miles Epperson was at the piano. Burial was in the Hickory Grove Cemetery.
