Helen R. Guy, former Trenton, MO resident, passed away at 10:56 a.m. on Thursday, January 7, 2010 at the Select Specialty Hospital in Carrollton, TX.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Trenton. Burial will be in the Wyaconda Cemetery at Wyaconda, MO. A memorial service will also be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at the Meadows Baptist Church in Plano, TX.

Helen was born July 1, 1923 the daughter of James Arthur and Sarah Esther (Willson) Found. She graduated from Granger, MO High School in 1941 and received her Bachelors of Science in Education from Northeast Missouri State Teachers' College. She was an honorary member of Delta Kappa Gamma where she served as communications secretary, and Kappa Gamma Pi. She was also nominated twice and included in "Who's Who Among America's Teachers" being one of five teachers chosen in Trenton R- IX schools in 1993, and was also inducted as a Lifetime member into the Texas State PTA. Other memberships included: Missouri State Teachers Association, Grundy County Retired Teachers, Republican Women's Committee, Homemakers Extension Council, Community Pantry, and the First Baptist Church of Trenton. She taught school for 23 years and loved every minute.

On April 15, 1949 she married Homer R. Guy. They enjoyed 47½ years of wonderful marriage. To this union was born Homer L. Guy, Randy L. Guy and Lisa Guy Walton.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Trenton but she also attended Meadows Baptist Church in Plano, TX where she made many friends and loved ones. She lived in Trenton for more than 40 years and during the last years of her life lived in Plano, TX with her daughter and family.

She is survived by two sons, Homer L. Guy and his wife, Jeanine, of San Antonio, TX and Randy L. Guy and his wife, Yvette, of Charleston, SC; a daughter, Lisa Walton of Plano, TX; four grandchildren, Micah Guy, Sean Walton, Erin Walton, and Ian Walton; and a daughter-in-law, Darlene Guy.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by five sisters, Betty Davis, Mildred Powell, Beulah Nelson, Grace Gilbert, and Rachel Adams and two brothers, Willson Found and Harry Pointer.

She is also survived by sister-in-law Dorothy Smitson, her children, grandchildren, and many dear nieces and nephews.

Her great delights were her grandchildren, Micah, Sean, Erin and Ian, and volunteering at the local Dooley Elementary School in Plano by checking papers and helping the teachers. She also volunteered by sewing Quilts for Kids and more than 1000 neck coolers for soldiers and corresponding with the US military leaders in Iraq. She also greatly enjoyed communicating with her first students and attending the alumni reunions for her original school teaching assignment in Gorin, MO.

Memorials have been suggested to be given to either the First Baptist Church or the Meadows Baptist Church missions funds. These may be left at or mailed to the Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home at 813 Custer, Trenton, MO. 64683.
