Sergeant, 3rd Regiment, Missouri Cavalry, Union Forces, Civil War.

From The Grand Island Daily Independent, Friday, June 30, 1922, Page 5, transcribed by Linda Berney:

Dr. B. LaFayette Wamsley passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Fred Axford, 22nd and St. Paul road, at 2:05 a.m. Friday after a rather extended illness of bronchitis and heart trouble. Dr. Wamsley had come to this city from Portland, Ore., about a month ago, for a visit at the home of his daughter. At that time he was suffering from a severe attack of bronchitis and since then his condition grew gradually worse, resulting in his demise at an early hour Friday.

He was born on December 23, 1844, and was aged 78 years at the time of his death.

For many years, Mr. Wamsley was engaged in the practice of his profession at West Union, Custer county, Nebraska, but of later years had resided at Portland, Ore.

Surviving him are three daughters, Mrs. Nadia Axford, of this city, Mrs. Madge Cole of Portland, Ore, and Mrs. Pansey Cox of Christiana, South Africa; also two brothers, Jerome B. Wamsley of Emid, Okla., and Norton Wamsley of Pasadena, Cal. His wife has preceded him in death.

Definite arrangements for the funeral have not as yet been made, pending word from relatives who reside at a distance.
