From the Sargent (Nebraska) Leader:
Pansy Wamsley Cox Dies in Johannesburg, Africa--
We are in receipt of a letter form Mrs. Wm. R. Siems, of 2720 Twentieth Street, Columbus, Nebraska, in which she tells of the death of her aunt Mrs. Pansy Wamsley Cox who was the second daughter of Dr. and Mrs. L. B. Wamsley of West Union where she was born and raised, Dr. Wamsley, being a very early resident physician of West Union, being a resident there until the town had almost passed out of existence. The writer does not know where she lived following her school days, but we do know that she recived the Leader in Africa for several years beginning twenty seven or eight years ago. We do not recall but think her sister Mrs. Naida Wamsley Axford subscribed for it for her.
The following is Mrs. Siems' letter concerning her death:

Columbus, Nebraska, September 2, 1946
The Sargent Leader,
Sargent, Nebraska
Dear Editor,
I have a bit of news for the Sargent Leader which I am reluctant to give since it concerns the passing of my dear Aunt Patz, whom old time residents around Sargent will remember as Pansy Wamsley. She was Dr. L. B. Wamsley's daughter, an older sister of my mother Mrs. Naida Axford, widow of Fred M. Axford.

Pansy Wamsley nee Mrs. P. E. Cox has been living in Johannesburg, Transvaal, South Africa for the past 31 years. After leaving the United States, she never returned although she often expressed the desire to do so. However, death cut short any plans, coming suddenly on August 3rd, 1946.

At the time of her death she was 64. Her sister, Mrs. Naida Axford lives at 221 So. Kedzie St. Chicago, 12, Ill. Her other sister, Mrs. Madge Cole (whose husband was the druggist, Wm. D. Cole) resides at 6616 N. E. Durham Ave., Portland, 11, Oregon. Another sister, Bessie, passed away at the age of 12. Her father and mother, Dr. and Mrs. L. B. Wamsley preceded her in death several years ago. She is survived by no children.
She was, as I knew her through many interesting letters, a magnificent woman! She had travelled in Europe, lived in Australia for 8 years, and finally located in Johannesburg, South Africa. She is mourned there by a host of frineds.

In one of her charming letters she enclosed this little thought, stating that it was her text throughtout life: "I shall pass through this world but once. Any good thing that I can do, or any kindness that I can show any human being let me do it now and not defer it, for I shall not pass this way again."

Thanking you kindly,
Very truly yours,
Mrs. Wm. E. Siems
