Oliver was the son of Sarah (McArtor) and Emanuel Humerickhouse. He was a farmer all his life and named for Oliver Perry Morton, the governor of Indiana during the Civil War. He was proud that "his word was his bond". He and his wife Lola were married 43 years. He was the father of 5 living children: Solomon, Albert, Joseph, Roland ( b. Jan. 12, 1918) and Rachel Naomi Humerickhouse Weishuhn (b. Mar.10, 1921 ). 5 babies did not survive: Jesse, Sarah, Charles, John and unnamed child. His second wife was Pearl Hamilton.
