Albert F. Cundiff: Signal Hill Oil Man
Albert F. Cundiff, a pioneer oil man who drilled one of the first Signal Hill wells for the United Oil Co. in 1920, died Sunday at Memorial Medical Center of Long Beach. He was 94 years old. he was born in Nevada, Missouri, began working in California in the oil fields in the Taft-Maricopa area in 1908, was with United Oil in Santa Paula through 1916, and moved to Long Beach in 1920. For many years he was a production superintendent for the Termo Co. of Signal Hill. He retired in 1966 but remained a consultant to Termo for many years. Cundiff is survived by his wofe of 69 years, Eugenie, and daughters Virginia Johnson of Seal Beach and Norma Bogard of Cypress, sister Lena Cummings of Santa Monica, four grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
