Fred Best, Hardware Dealer, Dies at 70
Fred Best, 70-year-old hardware store operator, died this morning at a local hospital after an illness of several weeks. He had operated the Miller Hardware Company at 511 South Sixth street the past 43 years. Mr. Best and his wife would have been married 50 years in September. Born at Smithville, Mo., Mr. Best had lived in St. Joseph most of his life and made his home on rural route No. 1, Frederick Avenue boulevard.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary Best of the home, and one sister, Miss Ella Best, Watsonville, Cal. The body is at Meierhoffer-Fleeman's.

Burial will be Mount Auburn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be W. E. Robinson, George Dillon, B. F. Connett, C. F. Cline, George D. Savidge and E. C. Logosdon. Mr. Best died Friday, July 1, at a local hospital.
