Harold ("Swede") Forsberg was born in South Haven, Wright Co., Minnesota, on September 11, 1912. He grew up in Appleton, Swift Co., Minnesota, and operated Forsbergs' Leader Department Store with his father until WWII. During the war, he worked in the Bremerton [Washington] Navy Yards and later served in the Air Force overseas.



After the war, he returned to the Leader Department Store and remained there until the death of his father in 1959. He then operated a mobile home park in Grand Forks, North Dakota, until 1963. At this time he went to Clarkfield were he operated Forsbergs' Market until his retirement in 1980. Harold Forsberg died at the Clarkfield Hospital, Clarkfield, Minnesota, on February 13, 1983, at the age of 70 years, five months.

Besides his wife Bernice "Bea" Alfreda (née Stehn) Forsberg, he was survived by his four adult children, Janice, David, Alan, and Ann. Also surviving were two brothers, Walter and Thomas, and one sister, Ethyle. 

He was preceeded in death by his father, mother, step-mother, one sister and one brother.



Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, February 16, 1983, at 10:00 a.m.
 in the United Methodist Church
 of Clarkfield, Yellow Medicine Co., Minnesota

, with Pastor Wayne officiating.

, Steve Lindholm, Allen Stangel

. Military Rites were conducted by the 
American Legion Post No. 169, of Clarkfield, Minnesota
