George F. Austin, 81, died Tuesday, July 6, 2011, at the Minneola District Hospital, Minneola.
He was born Dec. 25, 1929, at Stratford, Texas, to George L. and Lida Elva (Smith) Austin.
He served in the U.S. Army as an MP during the Korean conflict. A longtime resident of Bucklin, he was a farmer and stockman.
Survivors include three brothers, Wayne, of Fowler, Roy, of Bucklin, and Kenneth of Dodge City; a sister, Marion McCarty of Bucklin; and a sister-in-law, Patsy Austin of Bucklin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Keith; and two sisters, Audrey Richardson and Joanne Austin.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Bucklin United Methodist Church, with Heath Ormord presiding. Burial will be in the Bucklin Cemetery.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Friday at Minnis Mortuary, Bucklin.
