Bussey,, April 21- Jesse Bussey, founder of the town of Bussey, died at his home here Monday, after a long illness, of Paralysis. He was almost 86 years old. He was a prominent democrat and Baptist, and one of the best known residents of this section of Iowa.
Jesse Bussey was born in Green county, PA., August 8, 1820. He married Miss Isabell Jemison, of same county, in 1842. To them eight children were born, all of whom are living in this vicinity save the eldest., John who died at the age of four years in the Keystone state. The other members of the family are Mary A., wife of John Littler; Louisa, wife of T.H. McClure; Marshall, E.L., Jas. A. and A.C. Bussey, all of the town of Bussey; and Belle, wife of D.L. Cole, of Oskaloosa.

Mr. Bussey moved with his family to Iowa in 1867 and bought of Dr. James Rousseau the fine farm on which the town of Bussey was afterwards laid out. He had been an active stock and grain shipper all his life in Pennsylvania, and he entered at once into the same business here, associating with him his son, James A. Bussey. He had planned to start a country store at a point which afterward became the very center of the town of Bussey, which he founded in 1875. This plan was changed when the C.B. & Q. built from Albia to Des Moines. He located the town and gave it his name. Mr. Bussey was president of the Bussey bank from its organization in 1892 until he resigned a few months ago.

The funeral services were held in the M.P. church in Bussey on Wednesday, April 1, at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. Isaac Sawin, of Montrose. Interment in Greelawn cemetery, Bussey.
