James Walton Goin was born April 14, 1889 at Taswell, Tennesse in Union County and died August 7, 1970 at his home in Cheyenne, Oklahoma after a lengthy illness.
He was the son of Elder George W. and Sarah Goin and moved with his family near Roll in Roger Mills County, Oklahoma in 1911 where he has been engaged in farming and ranching until his retirement ten years ago.
He was married to Emma Mae Stamper of Strong City, Oklahoma, in 1921.
He is a veteran of World War I and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion.
He was a long time member of the Primitive Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Emma, of the home; one daughter, Mrs. F.F. (Lola) Winkleblack, Pampa, Texas; three sons, J.W. Jr., Salem, Oregon, Carol D., Denver, Colorado and George W., Crawford, Oklahoma; twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Three sistrers, Mrs. Charity Wallace, Tucumcari, New Mexico, Mrs. Esther Miller, Portales, New Mexico, Mrs. Mary Springer, Crawford, Oklahoma.
Two brothers, Robert Goin, Chehalis, Washington, Bennie Goin, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, a host of other relatives and many friends.
One sister and one brother preceeded him in death.
Services were held August 13, 1970 at the First Baptist Church, Cheyenne, Oklahoma, with the Rev. Lee Vaughn, Pastor First Baptist Church of Strong City officiating, assisted by the Rev. Clyde Denny of Roll, Oklahoma, Pastor of the Brethren in Christ Church of the Red Star community, with Scroggins and son Funeral Directors of Cheyenne, Oklahoma in charge.
Interment was in Silent Home Cemetery, Roll, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma where a graveside military Salute was conducted by the U.S. Army Support Detachment of Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
