Flora Hargis, 80, of the Vandever community, passed away Nov. 16, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Nov. 19 from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with burial in Hale's Chapel Cemetery. J.C. Ford and Tony Huling officiated, with special music by Victory Bluegrass.
Mrs. Hargis was born July 23, 1925 in Overton County, the daughter of Ambrose and Ollie House Murphy.
She was a homemaker and a member of Gospel Temple.
Survivors include her sons, Earl Hargis and Gary Hargis; daughters, Lucille Lewis, Karolyn Reagan, Linda Burgess and Kathy Tollett; 19 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ruben Hargis; son, Preston Hargis; brothers, Troy, Marvin, Walter, Martin, Bedford, Aubrey, Charlie, Roscoe, Fred, Robert, Joseph Benton and Elmo Murphy; and sister, Vela Bilbrey, Roxie Hoover, Clora Harville, Onnie Ledbetter and Beulah Murphy.
