Funeral services for Mr. Rosco Murphy, 83, of the Green Pond Community in Overton County, were conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 15, 2004, at Green Pond Church.
Burial was in Love Joy Cemetery with Rev. Mark Masters Jr. officiating.
Mr. Murphy died Monday, July 12 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a retired coal miner with more than 30 years service and was of the Baptist faith.
Born February 26, 1921, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Ambrose and Ollie (House) Murphy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Luenola (Hargis) Murphy.
Survivors include his wife, Lillie Lambert Murphy of the Green Pond Community; a daughter, Merita Wilson of the Green Pond Community; two sons, Rev. Glen Murphy of the Green Pond Community and Rev. Arnold Murphy of the Vines Ridge Community; two sisters, Roxie Hoover of Hanging Limb and Flora Hargis of Crossville; five grandchildren; and a great grandchild.
