LaCoss, Mrs. Olive E., of Paw Paw, MI, died Sunday afternoon, January 9, 2011 at her residence with her family at her side.

Olive was born August 9, 1934 in Kalamazoo, Michigan a daughter of Harold and Mary (Vandenberg) Howe.

She had been a lifelong Kalamazoo and Paw Paw area resident and was employed with the Shakespeare Company for 32 years, retiring in 1996. Olive was also a member of the Portage Moose Lodge #88 and Rebekah Lodge years ago.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Theodore R. LaCoss, Jr. on May 27, 2009; two sisters, Carol Vandenberg and Leila Moore; two brothers, Robert and Leo Howe; a sister-in-law, Mary Howe; and a brother-in-law, Donald Smith.

Olive is survived by four children, Debra (David) Dolph of Kalamazoo, Diane (Steven) Root of Portage, Dale (Susan) LaCoss of Plainwell, and Daniel (Lori) LaCoss of Kalamazoo; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a brother, Holroyd Howe of Portage; two sisters, Virginia Brown of Troy, AL and Harriet Smith of Parchment; six brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jack (Dorothy) LaCoss of Portage, Gerald (Doris) LaCoss of Paw Paw, Bev (Gaylen) Stecker of Florida, Connie (Harry) Loy of Lawton, Joann Howe of Evart, MI, and Edward VandenBerg Of Ludington, MI; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held 11 o'clock Saturday at the Centre Avenue Church of God, 1917 East Centre Ave. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at the church. Private burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Visiting Nurse Association Hospice Program. Arrangements were made by the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St.
