F.W. Kervan Dead at 55
Francis Vincent Kervan, 55, well known local resident who had been employed at Ben Mont Papers, Inc. for the past 15 years, died suddenly at Putnam Memorial Hospital this morning. He had been a patient at the hospital since Wednesday afternoon.
The son of Frank J. and Nellie (Mahoney) Kervan, he was born in North Adams Jan 11, 1903. The family moved to Bennington when he was a boy and he attended St. Francis de Sales Academy.
Mr. Kervan had been with Ben Mont Papers for 15 years and was esteemed by his fellow associates there. He was an ardent sports fan and enjoyed all kinds of sports.
He was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Francis de Sales Church and a former member of F.G. Eagles.
He married the former Dorothy E. Wright June 13, 1922 at the St. Francis de Sales Church, the Rev. Thomas R. Carty performing the ceremony.
Survivors are his wife; two sons, Francis T. Kervan, Albany and Donald E. Kervan, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C.; one sister, Mrs. Harold (Marion) LaPorte, Watervilet; one brother Emmett Kervan, San Francisco, Calif.; five grandchildren; one half sister, Margaret Kervan, Texas.
The funeral will be held from Mahar Funeral Home Monday at 8:30 am with a prayer and from St. Francis de Sales Church at 9 where a requiem high Mass will be offered. Burial will be in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 Saturday and then at their convenience.
