James Ackley had a former wife, Naomi, and a son James, born January 18, 1749 in Middletown. Mrs. Sarah Ackley died, April 2, 1771. James Ackley died, December 3, 1777.
2. Hannah, born February 4, 1713/4, baptized March 21, 1714, married, February 9, 1737/8, Thomas Smith, born March 26, 1710, son of Matthew and Sarah (Mack) Smith. Hannah died in East Haddam, January 12, 1754, in her 40th year. Thomas married, second, May 27, 1756, Ann Osborn of Middletown, CT, by whom he had one son, Samuel, born December 1, 1757. She died. April 16, 1791 in her 76th year. Thomas Smith died, December 23, 1797, in East Haddam.

4. Esther, born February 26, 1717/8, baptized March 2, 1717/8, married, April 19, 1739, her cousin Samuel Gates, born March 29, 1710, son of Joseph and Elizabeth (Hungerford) Gates. Esther died, August 26, 1757, in East Haddam.
5. Mary, born July 29, 1719, baptized August 2, 1719, died in East Haddam, March 10, 1741, unmarried, in her 22nd year, buried in Cove Burial Ground.
6. James, born August 29, 1721.
7. Stephen, born June 30, 1723.
8. Jonah, baptized, April 25, 1725, died, April 26, 1741, in his 16th year.
