Mary Gates born 16 March 1673/4 in Haddam, CT, married, 14 February 1693, Daniel Cone, born 21 January 1666 in Haddam, son of Daniel and Mehitable (Spencer) Cone. He was Justice of the Peace and held other local offices. He was one of the constituent members of the First Church in East Haddam, and in 1704, he and his brother-in-law, Thomas Gates, were elected deacons. He held that office for twenty years. Mary Cone, his wife, was admitted to full communion, in the First Church, February 15, 1707/8 and was a member until her death. Daniel became quite wealthy as is evident from the division of his property in 1726. Daniel died in East Haddam, 15 June 1725. Mary Cone died in East Haddam, 12 May 1742.

1. Daniel, born 26 December 1694, married first, 26 December 1718, Mary Barnes, born in East Haddam in 1697 and died there 24 September 1763. He married, second, Abigail Griswold and they had two daughters whose names are not known. He joined the Second Congregational Church and Ecclesiastical Society in Millington, East Haddam in 1732, becoming one of its earliest settlers. He was a lieutenant in the militia, Justice of the Peace, and held the office of deacon in the church for thirty years. Daniel Cone died 27 May 1776. His sons Jonah and William were appointed administrators of his estate in his will which was admitted to probate July 4, 1776.

2. Sarah born 27 June 1697, married Daniel Gates, born 26 May 1695, son of Thomas and Hannah (Brainerd) Gates.

3. Mehitable born 27 June 1699, married, 25 December 1718, Week Williams Mehitable died 16 December 1742.

4. Mary born 6 January 1701/2 , married 16 June 1723, Matthias Fuller, born 24 March 1700. Mary died 15 November 1739, and Matthias married, second, 16 April 1741, Mrs. Jemima (Richardson) Hungerford, daughter of Stephen and Lydia Richardson and widow of Green Hungerford. He married third, Patience ______ who survived him. Matthias died in East Haddam before December 6, 1770.

5. Dorothy born 29 April 1704, married Thomas Gates, born October 3, 1693, son of Thomas and Hannah (Brainerd) Gates.

6. Abigail born 27 June 1706, married 26 December 1723, Elnathan Rowley. Abigail died 8 December 1735.

7. George, baptized 16 July 1709, married 31 January 1733, Mehitable Emmons born 1709, daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth (Butler) Emmons. He was a farmer. George died in East Haddam, August 8, 1793, and she died there, 6 July 1796.

8. Joseph born 20 March 1711, married 1 November 1734, Mary Smith, born in East Haddam in 1713, daughter of Matthew and Sarah (Mack) Smith. They were members of the Second Congregational Church and Ecclesiastical Society in Millington, East Haddam for over 65 years. Mary died in East Haddam, March 4, 1802 and Joseph died there, February 1, 1804.

9. Jared born 12 February 1715, married, first, December 1738, Ruth Smith, born in East Haddam 29 March 1720, daughter of Matthew and Sarah (Mack) Smith. She died, October 13, 1748, and he married, second, 7 June 1752, Ruth Newell, born in 1723 and died 7 March 1806. He joined the Millington Church, October 9, 1757 and died 10 October 1781. His will is dated April 12, 1780.
